Frankie Vaughan deserves better

The Savoy Grill is a famous restaurant in a famous hotel and it knows it. Although it is managed by Gordon Ramsay, with his TV horns and tabloid nightmares, it is still reeling with self-importance, an elderly debutante who once jumped on John Wayne in the loo. The view is of a taxi rank and a queue of tourists in sports jackets being shepherded by a man dressed as a penguin. But still the very name is awe.

If you can't make good mashed potato you aren't a good restaurant, even if Frankie Vaughan came once and liked it. The cauliflower cheese, meanwhile, is undercooked. Mother has salt-marsh lamb and leek pie. It's fine, but the dish is too shallow, so it feels joyless and incomplete. My spoon grates against the bottom. The other diners seem to be American. Americans love the Savoy, because it was the first London hotel to go en-suite, and they remember and give thanks. Many of them are under ten but still in suits, miniature Lehman Brothers drowning their sorrows with lemonade. So this is a sexy restaurant filled with children, and photographs of the stars who used to come here.We are almost too sad for pudding, even if the Americans look overwhelmed with joy. We watch them leave - to do what? Go to the Caprice? Watch CBeebies? Discuss the Laffer Curve?I didn't know aubergine could do lustre, but now I do.It looks revolting, perhaps Play Doh a toddler has set on fire. The Savoy Grill, Strand, London WC2R 0EU, 020 7592 1600.It deserved better.I can't think of much else to say about it, except it reminds me of Truman Capote weeping at the end of his life.I always think this is a mistake, as if Frankie Vaughan ate here once, but now they've just got you.She zaps the crayfish like a F lash Gordon baddie. The egg arrives on a bed of stringy leaves smothered with electric pink liquid. It lies on the plate like an accusation; no, a divorce. Then she lays down her fork and says, 'This is pub food.'The menu is Olde British, stiff and very big. My mother disappears behind it so it is now a talking menu. Puddings and pies, and a lone Caprese salad (named 'heritage salad' for those who hate Italians) kidnapped from a room with more light. The waiter is a real Frenchman, from the south he says, and he looks after us too tenderly. It is supposed to come with crayfish, but mother can always improve on menus.I order burnt English cream with rosemary shortbread. It needed lumps; vegetable chef, step away from the blender.Steamed steak and onion pudding is adequate but not delicious; the sauce is too thick and sour. Where is the spice, the fun, the cartwheeling?I imagine the Savoy Grill splitting in two.It is pale and smooth and it tastes of nothing. It needs lumps.I feel bad for the Savoy Grill and the smiling dead diners on the walls. It's OK, she says, but doesn't finish it.It is artdeco glossy now, gloomy and sexy, with chandeliers and lustrous walls, which are possibly aubergine.Mashed potato, which in food terms is a slut - it will jump on anything - has been on a quest to make itself as uninteresting as possible and it has succeeded.Mother has egg mayonnaise. It is an exhibitionist, a date restaurant, for late-night negotiations with lovers. And I am with my mother. If she dreamed of mayonnaise so fluffy and yellow it stares in the mirror with wonder, it didn't come. She asks aloud if it came from a bottle. The waiter overhears, crumples, breaks. My pork, veal and pistachio pie is loaded with salt, and too chilly. The quail's egg is a lump of brine.

Guide To Buying The Right Chandelier

A chandelier is a very attractive way to light the home. They can provide an awe-inspiring centrepiece to a room that other types of lights just simply cannot. Visitors into the home will always comment on a well placed and beautiful chandelier. They come in a wide range of styles and designs however so it can be difficult to know what to buy. That is why this article is perfect for those looking at buying their first chandelier because it can guide you through the process. There are many considerations to make and this article acts as a list of ideas to consider. Go through the list one by one to make sure you end up with the perfect chandelier for your room.

The height of the room is the first important idea to think about. If you have a very low ceilinged room then a chandelier on a long chain won't be a a good idea. The first thing you should do when buying a chandelier is get the tape measure out and work out how much space you have. The chandelier should always be at least seven feet off the ground so there is no chance of anyone banging their head unless they are seven feet tall which is fairly unlikely. When you are buying a chandelier, don't simply walk down to your local lighting shop and see what they have. The internet has opened up the world to us and so you should take advantage of this and seek out some online stores. You will be pleasantly surprised with the lower prices, greater choice and in some cases, free delivery. There are a great number of different styles of chandelier available. The golden rules are to make sure you get the right size and style for the room. If you want something a little more modern than a traditional crystal style chandelier then a red chandelier can be the perfect solution. These are modern chandeliers that can really strike the perfect balance between contemporary and traditional. It is important that you don't get too distracted when choosing a chandelier about how much light it provides. Chandeliers are not meant to be task lighting; they are decorative pieces that add style and ambience to the room. Focus instead on their look and design and whether or not they fit into your existing interior decorating scheme. If you want some good task lighting in the room as well, this can be achieved by buying some additional lamps or spot lights. This way you can have all the good lighting you need as well as benefit from a beautiful central chandelier hanging elegantly or regally from the ceiling.

Disassembling And Cleaning A Chandelier

Because of the complexity of cleaning a large chandelier, it is one of the most often avoided home cleaning jobs. However, because a chandelier is such an eye catching lighting fixture, people will quickly notice dust and dirt that has collected there. A dirty chandelier does not reflect well on the quality of home cleaning being done in your house. It's probably best to leave chandelier cleaning to a professional domestic cleaning agency, but if you want to do it yourself, here is how you should go about it.

2. Make sure the bulbs are off and cool before starting.4. Set up a step ladder securely and if possible, have someone to help you by taking each piece you remove and placing it safely on the carpet or you may end up climbing up and down the ladder far more than is comfortable! This will take time and effort. There are other quicker ways of cleaning a chandelier, and most of the time those options are fine. But to prevent dirt from getting ingrained, especially in the fasteners that hold the chandelier together, every fifth cleaning should be a complete one as described above.3. Place a thick blanket or quilt on the floor to catch anything that may fall during the disassembling process.7. Remove all the bulbs9. Once all the pieces are on the carpet, place a few at a time into a plastic (not metal it may cause scratches) sieve or colander and rinse with hot water.1. Check the manufacturer's website for any cleaning tips/instructions and follow them. If they conflict with what is said here, follow the manufacturer's instructions.6. Dust the complete chandelier before beginning with the disassembly10. Apply mild detergent and rinse it off. Repeat this process until all the pieces are clean.15. Refit the bulbs.14. Start putting the chandelier back together again, starting from the inside and working your way outwards.5. Take pictures of the chandelier from various different angles or make a detailed sketch of it so that putting it back together again is easier.13. Allow everything to dry and then polish with a soft cloth12. Keep doing this until the complete chandelier has been cleaned.11. Clean the metal pieces with a reputed metal cleaner specific to the metal type and then polish as required.

This will take time and effort. There are other quicker ways of cleaning a chandelier, and most of the time those options are fine. But to prevent dirt from getting ingrained, especially in the fasteners that hold the chandelier together, every fifth cleaning should be a complete one as described above.

Glassworks History

Throughout the history chandeliers have been used to decorate the interior of important buildings such as castles and palaces all around the world. To purchase an authentic crystal chandelier is not a spontaneous shopping splurge and choosing the type of glass and model can be quite complicated. Are you the Strass, Swarovski, Bohemia, Italian or maybe Egyptian type? Each one of them has their own story so you will not only buy a piece of decoration, but also a piece of history.

Swarovski and Strass crystal are almost equal in pricing, Strass being the more expensive of the two. In 1775 the jeweller Georg Friedrich Strass got the idea to use rhinestones to imitate diamonds by coating the glass with a metal powder making the strass crystal resistant to dirt and dust. Strass Crystal chandeliers are the most expensive of all crystal glass sorts due to this special coating and its precise cutting.Bohemia CrystalThe statement necklace is made out of a wide variety of materials from large stones to sea glass and even fabric. These striking pieces can turn even the most ordinary outfit into something extraordinary. No wonder many celebrities gracing the red carpet choose a statement necklace to pull their look together. The timeless nature of a statement necklace makes it the perfect companion for your wardrobe. Mix and match it with different outfits, regardless of the season, to turn heads all year long! When it comes to timeless jewelry, we often think of diamonds and pearls as being the only alternative. However, not everyone can afford such luxuries. And since fashion trends and styles are constantly changing, it can be difficult to accessorize especially when you are on a budget. The good news is that classic pieces of jewelry can grow with your wardrobe and last for several years to come. The key to selecting timeless pieces that will stand the test of time is choosing ones that are handcrafted by experienced artisans. Factory-spewed and mass-produced jewelry is a thing of the past. These days, the latest trends in jewelry have everything to do with the handmade marketplace. The latest trends in handmade designer jewelry include polished natural stones, sea glass and colored crystals. You can purchase a timeless piece of jewelry to accentuate just about any outfit.Bountiful BraceletsWell known crystal products are manufactured in the Czech Republic and Slovakia area. For such a product to carry the label Bohemia Crystal the entire product must be produced in the region. Additionally, it must pass strict quality standards which are imposed by the Czechs in order to be accredited with the trademark Bohemia Crystal. Bohemia Crystal is probably the most affordable in comparison to other glass brands. As you can see, there are many styles of golden earrings that you will find. You can have a few of each and spice up your earring collection so that you never wear the same pair twice if you wish. ChandelierThe most ancient of all glass workers came from Egypt. Archaeological evidence has shown that the earliest glass objects to be found were glass beads from approximately the year 1540 B.C. in Egypt. Studies have shown that the Egyptians were the first people to discover that sand and lead created beautiful crystals. Due to its historical value Egyptian crystal is considered one of the worlds finest types of glass.Italian glass often refers to the Venetian glassmakers and Murano glass, their most famous products. The island of Murano, located off the shore of Venice, Italy became an important commercial port in the 7th century. However the Murano glassworkers were unknown until the 10th century. The glassworkers of Murano held monopoly on quality glass art for centuries and developed amongst others crystalline glass and multi-coloured glass. Today, the glass industry of Murano still employs these hundred year old techniques, and is seen of one of the worlds finest glass.2. Hoop

Holiday spirit in the stately Hotel Utah

The Westin Hotel Utah, at South Temple and State streets, is Salt Lake City's finest old hotel, built in 1911 in the English Renaissance style. With its classic ornate lobby, chandeliers, stained-glass ceiling, and wall coverings of red and gold, it always appears in a holiday mood; the decorations just get a little thicker and more seasonal this month. As this grand public space glows with holiday spirit, you can listen to free programs of Christmas music at lunchtime and evenings; a second-floor balcony provides a good view of the lobby below.

Weekdays from December 9 through December 24, you can listen to choral groups, bell ringers, and other musicians from 11:30 to 12:30. Every evening (weekends included), strolling singers in Victorian costume perform from 5 to 10. If you're planning a holiday visit to the hotel, remember afternoon tea service each weekday from 3 to 6 P.M. (cost $2.50) for a soothing respite from the rigors of shopping. And the restaurant upstairs offers a special holiday menu for Christmas Eve and Day (reserve well ahead).

New look at Titanic with a robot's 'eye.' - Jason Jr. robot

New look at Titanic with a robot's 'eye'

The 50 researchers participating in the expedition departed aboard the research vessel Atlantis II on July 9. Ballard also headed the team that found the Titanic in the North Atlantic last year (SN:9/21/85, p.182)."Instead of doing this elsewhere, I did it in Chicago because Chicago is ready for it now,' Dayan said. Since opening at the end of July, Diva has been serving about 350 lunches daily. Dinners, however, are slow, but Dayan expects them to pick up this fall after people return from vacations and opera season opens.Diners with larger appetites, longer lunch hours and bigger budgets choose to eat in the showpiece dining room, which offers six a la carte courses. Entree courses also include fresh vegetables and potatoes or rice.Grilled fish entrees include salmon and swordfish steaks and walleyed pike, all $11.95; poultry dishes are breast of duck, breast of chicken, whole cornish game hen and a half-chicken, $7.95 to $9.95; and meat specialties range from New York strip steak and a veal chop ($14.95 each) to Italian sausage skewered with zucchini ($5.95).According to Ballard, one-third to one-half of the Titanic's stern was not located in last year's expedition and only a small portion of a field of debris behind the ship was explored. The current expedition is expected to shed light on where missing pieces of the 883-foot vessel are located and what is in the debris.Diva, named for the European opera house atmosphere of the 1600s to 1800s Dayan intended to re-create, marks his re-entry into the restaurant business after concentrating on real estate and commodities trading. He has sold his New York Pronto and the McDonald's franchises he bought in the late 1960s.

The researchers hope to get in 12 days of diving before returning by the end of the month. Four hours of exploration are planned daily, sandwiched between the five hours it takes for Alvin to dive to the Titanic's remains and resurface.

Dayan's Diva: European flair, country Italian fare

A man who makes no little plans, Dayan already is talking about opening many more restaurants. However, since he has not yet signed any leases for them, he would not divulge their concepts.Expedition leader Robert D. Ballard radioed the news back to Woods Hole and said the successful mission "was like landing on the moon.""This menu is for everybody,' Dayan said, noting that it contains hamburgers, sandwiches and pizza as well as more elaborate dishes. Country Italian cuisine is emphasized, drawing particularly on cooking styles of 18th-century Bologna, when most foods were grilled over charcoal with no sauces, he said.Photo: Owner Rene Dayan in the dining room of Diva in Chicago's West Loop area. The lawnmower-size robot, named Jason Jr., carries high-resolution color video and still cameras and is attached to the Alvin by a 250-foot electrical tether. Its propulsion system is guided by an operator in the three-person submarine. At a July 8 press conference in Woods Hole, Ballard said Jason Jr. will act as a "swimming eyeball" inside the Titanic.High-class dining on Chicago's West LoopAn automatic baby grand piano synthesizer system called a pianocorder provides unique musical accompaniment to Diva's dining.Owner Rene Dayan, who opened Pronto Ristorante in New York in 1975 and here in 1977, and Paris designer Slavik designed the 4,000-sq.-ft., 275-seat restaurant and cafe with high, mirrored ceilings, marble columns and floors and a black granite and marble bar. Two 10-ft. hand-blown Venetian crystal chandeliers add further elegance to the dining room. Even the open kitchen and the bathrooms contain floor-to-ceiling marble.Aimed primarily at the surrounding business community, Diva has telephones at every table and an LED jet screen that displays current market prices. A more casual cafe in the lobby and a take-out window are expected to appeal to diners in a hurry or on a budget.Dayan does not expect to do the volume here he did at his New York Pronto, where he said he served 1,000 meals a day and took reservations three weeks in advance. Volume at his Chicago Pronto also is high, drawing from its densely populated Gold Coast high-rise neighbors. The researchers hope to get in 12 days of diving before returning by the end of the month. Four hours of exploration are planned daily, sandwiched between the five hours it takes for Alvin to dive to the Titanic's remains and resurface. The impressive marble grandeur of the new Diva Ristorante has brought European sophistication to the restaurant scene in the burgeoning West Loop high-rise office district.Scientists at the Woods Hole (Mass.) Oceanographic Institution are delving deeper into the recently uncovered remains of the Titanic. This week they landed a small manned submarine, the Alvin, on the upper deck of the sunken luxury liner and sent a picture-taking robot down the grand staircase. The robot descended four levels and sent back views of the grand promenade deck and a nearby room containing a large chandelier still intact 74 years after the Titanic sank.Dayan claimed that the only other local restaurant that makes pasta the way his does is the Levy Organization's Spiaggia, which hired chef Anthony Mantuano away from Pronto."Everybody has pasta,' Dayan surmised, based on orders of 300 a day. "People can eat pasta every day of the week,' he said. Some of Diva's fresh pasta is made in full view of diners at a station next to the entrance. The average lunch check in the dining room, though, is reaching almost $13, Dayan said--above the $9 to $10 he projected. A lighter menu is offered in the cafe, featuring large salads for $4.95 to $7.95, 16 fresh pastas for $6.95 to $8.95; hamburgers for $4.95; small pizzas and Italian and deli-style sandwiches for $4.95 to $7.95.Take-out choices are limited to six salads, one soup, five pastas and a variety of sandwiches. Italian-style sandwiches are served on Italian bread and garnished with marinated onions, olives, tomatoes and peppers.

You can even make one for every day use just to perk up your back yard. It might not be easy to make your own canopy, but when youve finished it, you will proud of your accomplishment, and glad you took the time to add a personal touch to the occasion. The May Fair Hotel, Central LondonFold the StripsOutdoor Canopy FabricPull the rope tightly to the ground, then secure them to stakes. Set the stakes around two to three foot away from poles and trees. Now you will be able to adjust the height of the canopy simply by pulling on a rope. Remember to make it high enough to allow people to mill around underneath and to allow plenty of clearance for candles or cooking implements.Hanging your Outdoor CanopyYou should take up with you a few items to clean the light with. First of all you will need a feather duster. You will also need a pair of clean white cotton gloves and a cleaning solution suitable for the type of material the chandelier is made of. If the light is made of brass then brass cleaner is required. If it is made of stainless steel then a cleaner suitable for this will be needed. You will also need a small tub of luke warm water. Place the items on the top step or get someone to pass them to you as you need them which is probably a lot safer.Any chandelier can be cleaned in the way described above. It is the best method by far. All the lights in your home can be cleaned in this way in fact, from spot lights to ceiling fans and lampshades. First a duster and then a gentle clean using gloves instead of a cloth will make quick work of the task.In order to make your own outdoor canopy, you will need about 3 yards of outdoor fabric, about 4 yards of border trim or fabric, six brass grommets, 100 to 200 feet of laundry rope, and approximately 6 tent poles as needed.Ballathie House, Perthshire, ScotlandAll 42 rooms are individually furnished with en suite facilities, and the hotel is a regular in the AA top 200 list. The restaurant, with lovely views over the river Tay, under Head Chef Kevin MacGillivray serves dishes that combine traditional Scottish classics with a modern twist. And wine aficionados will not be disappointed by the extensive wine list, which has a particular emphasis on claret, with over 60 current drinking vintages to sample. Nearby places of interest include Perth and the inspirational Scottish Highlands. Stay at Ballathie House for two nights mid week on a B&B basis based on 2 people sharing Sunday - Thursday for only 85 per person until 21st December, 2006. http://www.ballathiehousehotel.comTo start the clean, first of all run your duster all over the light. From the top to the very bottom make sure to get into all the crevices. This is the first part of the process and gets all the dust and cobwebs away from the light. The next step is to apply the cleaning product to the light. This can be rubbed on with the gloves you are wearing. Applying the solution like this makes it easier to reach every part. Using a cloth is just too clumsy and the chances are plenty of the parts of the light will be missed. Once the solution has been applied it will need removing. So starting where you began placing the cleaner, use the same gloves you are wearing to wipe off the solution with the warm water. Doing it this way will prevent streaks and will get every last drop of cleaner off it.

Make An Outdoor Canopy

If you have an outdoor event coming up, you should consider making your own canopy to provide shelter and shade. An out door canopy is not only protection from the elements; it also adds a decorative touch to your wedding, celebration, or festival.

The chandelier alone is worth more than 1million. Elsewhere, the hotel also boasts Londons largest private cinema and a unique spa, which offers surely one of the most romantic, or messy, experiences the capital can offer in the shape of the Cleopatra mud bath for two! For the real high-rollers, the May Fair boasts 10 unique luxury suites, all of which feature stunning London views, giant Bang and Olufsen plasma TVs and more. Superior Rooms from 295 per night, two-bed suites from a staggering 5,000 per night! http://www.radisson.com/mayfairHeres how you put the above supplies together to create your own custom outdoor canopy:Fold over about one inch of fabric towards the center of each strip along each long side. Press the folded strips with a hot iron to hold them in place. Your strips are now eight inches wide. Next, fold the strips in half, wrong sides together, to make your strips four inches wide. Now, just cover the edge of the awning triangles with the strips and pin them into place. Turn the ends under, miter the corners, and use a sewing machine to run a topstitch through all the layers along the edge. Follow the instructions from the grommet kit and place a grommet into each of the corners of your awning triangles.Festive Border FabricThe Drawing Rooms, Builth Wells, Mid-WalesNot content with winning a top accolade from the Good Hotel Guide, The Drawing Rooms in Builth Wells, Mid-Wales has also recently won the AA Restaurant of the Year award for Wales, too, and its easy to see why. Describing itself as a restaurant with rooms, the Drawing Rooms is a beautiful five-star, two-rosette restaurant with rooms that originally started life as a Georgian country residence in 1725.Hackness Grange, North YorkshireThe best fabric to select is one of natural color which will let the natural sunlight filter on through. Select a type of waterproof awning material about 108 inches by 54 inches in size. Cut the fabric rectangle across the diagonal to create two triangles of equal size. You can feel free to create your canopy in any shape you desire, the important point is to make sure they overlap in such a way that you can hang a chandelier down through the center. In order to plan how you want the final outcome to be, spread the pieces around the ground and arrange them in the manner you wish it to appear and how the corners will hang down. Lay two triangles next to each other so the two corners will overlap 12 inches in the middle. This will form a V which would make a hook from which you could hang a chandelier. When you are ready to hang your canopy, take the front of the triangles and balance them from the same tree across nylon rope. Crisscross the triangles and secure the backs to separate trees. Hang one canopy triangle 12 inches higher and use tent poles to hold up the outside corners or use the poles in place of trees if needed. With a string of successful restaurants and hotels behind them, it has taken husband and wife team Colin and Melanie Dawson less than two years to have gained a formidable reputation for excellent food and service, most of which sourced in the local area. There is an incredible range of fresh produce in this area, and it provides me with endless inspiration, comments Colin Dawson, on his Mid-Wales location. That means getting out the stepladder. It is important that the lights are switched off and the bulbs are cool and easily able to be handled. Make sure the ladder is high enough so you don't have to stretch to reach the top of the light fitting. Having to stretch when standing on a ladder can be very dangerous. The Manor House, Castle Combe, Wiltshire

How to Care for your Filigree Chandelier Earrings

Chandelier Earrings are the hottest accessory this year and they are here to stay. At EarringsETC.com we only sell handmade earrings in a technique called Mompox Filigree. We use Sterling silver on all of our earrings because it is easy to work with when making filigreed chandelier earrings. Most people do not know that sterling silver is also too delicate of a material that needs to be care for on a regular basis. Because of its chemical nature, sterling silver tarnishes over time. Perspiration from humans and contact with other elements can accelerate this process.

- Jewelry and glass cleanerBecause of the amount of humidity in the bathroom and all the water, hanging lights of any kind shouldn't be used. Instead you should use lights that are designed for bathroom use only and they should be inset into the ceiling or the walls. It is a good idea to use some kind of lighting around or above the main mirror as it is here you will need to carry out tasks such as applying makeup or brushing teeth. If you are able, try and use dimmer switches in the bathroom as well so that you can have a relaxing bath if you so wish with mood lighting.- Hot water with salt and lemonFor a chandelier to carry the label "Bohemia Crystal", the entire chandelier must be made in the Czech Republic. Also, it must pass or exceed very strict quality standards set by the Czechs to enforce and protect the well-guarded trademark Bohemia Crystal. Crystal, by definition, is glass of superior quality and high degree of brilliance. Not all crystal is the same because its quality, colour and brilliance strongly depend on the composition and proportioning of raw materials, and associated technological process, all of which are traditionally kept a secret within the community to protect the formulae.Classical Chandeliers have secured distribution rights with exclusive Bohemian chandelier manufacturers in the Czech Republic who are recognised as the best in the world.KitchenEntrance Hallway

Whatever your method of cleaning you choose for your chandelier earrings, follow it by rinsing with clean water and completely dry your filigree with a hair drier or exposing it to the sun. Remember to maintain your silver jewelry away from other silver jewelry preferably on a pouch. When wearing your filigreed chandelier earrings please keep contact with perfumes, lotions, oils, make up and other chemical substances at a minimum or clean your filigreed chandelier earrings on a regular basis.

This article acts as a guide to the best places in the home for a chandelier and if a chandelier isn't appropriate, what are the best lights to use. Read on to find out more!

How to clean your Filigreed Chandelier Earrings- Brush it with toothpasteYour piece of jewelry can be clean in several ways using a delicate brush:The website provides fabulous imagery of these fine products together with useful information on the history on Bohemian Chandelier manufacturing and interior design advise. Should you require design or product selection advise you can simply call Classical Chandeliers directlyThis can work very well with a chandelier so long as the space is large. Small, narrow hallways would be overshadowed with a chandelier, especially if the ceiling was quite low. Although a chandelier can certainly provide a dramatic feature as you enter the home, only a very particular type of hallway can benefit. Modern houses tend to have narrow hallways and in these it is much better to avoid hanging lights altogether and instead go for spot lights or wall lights.BathroomsThrough operating primarily online Classical Chandeliers have minimal overheads and consequently can give customers outstanding value.Generally chandeliers aren't used in bedrooms although there isn't really a reason why they shouldn't be. Often bedrooms are not decorated in a formal or grand way and that is perhaps the reason why alternatives to chandeliers are used. Furthermore the chandelier won't be seen as much when placed in a bedroom as when placed in one of the reception rooms downstairs. If you do want a chandelier in the bedroom then matching the size and decor is important.Sitting Room- Hot water and baking soda

When it comes to hanging a chandelier, there isn't really a right or wrong place to hang it; it is just that some places are better than others. Chandelier lighting is quite grand and looks dazzling if used correctly. A ceiling fan light, lamps or wall lights could all be used instead however in any room of the house.
