One of my favorite topics is the chandelier because of its history as a method of lighting that was used before the sixteenth century. The earliest chandeliers were very basic, almost primitive devices that involved two pieces of wood connected together to form a cross. A spike was inserted at each end to hold the candles and a rope or chain was connected to the crosspiece and then suspended from the ceiling. As a former antique dealer, Ive found that nearly all of the earliest chandeliers were destroyed and very few authentic examples remain in existence today.
Chandeliers are available in all kinds of styles, shapes and can be made from a variety of materials. Although the most common type of chandelier is made of crystal, faux candles and other types of lighting is also available. One of the best ways to find the style and size chandelier that will best complement your dcor, is to go online and look at whats available.Today, Murano, Schonbek, James R. Moder, and Vienna Full Spectrum chandeliers, and many others create dazzling new designs using crystals. Not all crystals are the same, there are all different kinds used in the manufacture and design of chandeliers, full lead crystal, Amber crystal, Black hand-cut crystal, Italian, Majestic and Rose crystals, and Swarovski Spectra hand-cut crystals are just some of the most familiar and popular. Innovative designs and unique creations make stunning collections when teamed with crystal drops and pendalogues, 24 Karat gold and chrome plated finishes.Regarding trends, Joe Rey-Barreau says, Beyond laundry rooms and garages, any room is an open target for hanging a chandelier. More commonly, kitchens and bathrooms have become the popular locations for chandeliers. These words best reflect the popularity of chandelier lights. People have started decorating their homes to bring in a touch of elegance and luxury in their day to day life. Dan Blitzer, Director of Education for the ALA, says, People are treating their bedroom suites as more luxurious personal spaces with elaborate bathroom areas, so it is not unreasonable to consider chandeliers there, either.Crystal chandeliers create a visual focal point in a room and give an impression of romance, elegance and intimacy that only this type of lighting can achieve. Not only will it please you and make your home unique from others, it will also prove to be a talking point for guests and visitors as they gaze upon its beauty in admiration. As the crystals catch the chandelier light it casts shards all around the room in the most effective and stunning way and creates the most beautiful dazzle of colours.Chandelier Lights: Children's LightChandeliers now come in varying sizes and weights. There is one for everyone. However, several points must be considered first, such as: What is the size of the object over which the chandelier will be suspended?Placing a chandelier that is too small in a space is likely the biggest mistake because it's very noticeable. Great designers, therefore, tend to make their decisions on fixtures that may appear slightly larger than might be appropriate. It's generally always best to make the mistake on a fixture being too big than too small. What are the dimensions of the room where it will be installed? The chandelier or chandeliers that you install in your home can change the look and the feel of the rooms where they are installed and in fact can provide a new feel of elegance to the entire home. How high is the ceiling on which it is to be installed?
